The MIT Innovation Leadership Bootcamp concluded last week , crowning 'Mehna' as the winning project, an online platform connecting STEM students in the UAE to companies in their industries. Organised by the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education (AGFE), in collaboration with

the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the United Arab Emirates University, the Bootcamp was the first of its kind in the region. During the 10-week process, 120 Emirati and Arab youth were tasked with creating innovative solutions to address youth unemployment in the region. 

Speaking about the event, HE Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair, Chairman of AGFE, said: 

“The success of the MIT Innovation Leadership Bootcamp is a reflection of our commitment to addressing youth unemployment in the Arab region through various means, including partnering with leading institutions such as MIT and UAEU to develop world-class programs for students. AGFE has a role to play in empowering Emirati and Arab youth to thrive and contribute to sustainable development by creating new opportunities in the Arab region, like the MIT Bootcamp.”

In April 2021, Djamal Djouhri, CEO of Al Ghurair Resources Oils & Proteins and Al Ghurair Foods LLC, took part in the MEED | Middle East Economic Digest webinar entitled ‘Agritech – Enhancing Food Security in the UAE’, organised by DP World, UAE Region and Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza).

The event, which opened with a keynote speech from UAE Minister of State for Food and Water Security Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, centred around the UAE’s aim to further enhance food security and attain number one ranking in the Global Food Security Index by 2051

Speaking at the event, Djamal Djouhri, commented:

“Dubai is the gateway to 61 per cent of the UAE's F&B trade by value. Despite being a nation that is largely food secure, it is essential to carve a roadmap that will help us prepare for the challenges of the future, which can include increased pressure on demand and supply for food and water resources.”

Al Ghurair University (AGU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Dar Al Marefa Private School - Dubai school, one of the region’s leading IB curriculum schools.

The MoU aims to enhance the academic partnership by offering webinars, guest lectures, and scholarships to both parties' staff and students.

Speaking on the occasion, Professor Mojtaba Moatamedi, President of Al Ghurair University said:

“From kindergarten to university graduation, Dar Al Marefa School and Al Ghurair University combine to map out a lifelong journey of learning, producing ambitious and confident individuals who are equipped to meet life's challenges. I am confident that AGU will be able to provide that platform to the students from Dar Al Marefa School, as we are putting in the best resources to enhance the quality of education, which is well-aligned with our purpose of 'Enhancing Life by Enriching Minds.“

! This week, ADIB - Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank recognised the MBM contract and ground teams for providing exemplary service and support throughout the COVID-19 pandemic period. Each member of the team was awarded a personal certificate of appreciation from ADIB’s COO office.

Earlier this month, Yara Mshainesh from MBM won the Best Cleaning Manager category in the Middle East Cleaning, Hygiene and Facilities Awards, for her innovative and professional approach to manpower planning and strategy.
