Al Ghurair Investment’s overall Group Procurement function was awarded the Process Innovation award, whilst AG Engineering, a specialised building services and infrastructure projects company, won the Best Procurement Project – Private Sector award.

Established in 2019, the Procurement Middle East Awards, now in its third edition celebrates achievement, innovation and highlights the impact and strategic relevance of the procurement function. Furthermore, the awards showcase the procurement function as a strategic role in ensuring resilience, business continuity, recovery and growth.

Having fostered a progressive approach towards innovation, Al Ghurair Investment has shown commitment to simplifying and streamlining the company’s procurement process by adopting the latest technologies. With innovation at the core of its business philosophy, the business continues to build on legacy to consistently raise the benchmark across the regional procurement industry.

Commenting on this landmark achievement, Stephen Rea, Group Head, Procurement at Al Ghurair Investment said, “In recent years the perception of procurement has vastly changed, now recognised as a value creating function, rather than a back-office service provider. At AGI, we pride ourselves on implementing best and innovative practices across the business – driving cost savings, enabling data-based decision making and maintaining smooth supply chains. Being recognised at this year’s Procurement Middle East Awards is a proud moment, and we are grateful to H.E. Shaikh Nayef bin Khalid Al Khalifa, the Bahrain Tender Board and Messe Frankfurt for this appreciation. This accolade is testament to the continued efforts of our team and I thank them for their commitment and dedication in pursuit of excellence.”

Abdul Riyas, Procurement Manager, AG Engineering, follows, “The merits of a sound and efficient procurement function cannot be under-estimated when it comes to the types of large-scale construction projects we see in AG Engineering. With our customer-centric approach, we partner with the business through every step of the process, whether it’s recruiting the right contract workers, sourcing high-quality products and materials, or providing optimum value engineering and service solutions. Receiving the Best Procurement Project – Private Sector award in recognition of a complex data centre project that was recently successfully completed is an honour, and a demonstration that our procurement strategy is fit for future!”
